REGM 6102 |
Railroad track is the backbone of a railway network and a key element of the vehicle-track system. Its primary functions are to support and distribute trainloads, guide rail vehicles and facilitate drainage. This course will examine the theory of track design; the practical application of track engineering principles; and innovative technologies, advanced track structure analysis (both static and dynamic), modeling and simulating different track structures with software. Furthermore, the module will explore the interaction and application of other modules such as hydrology, bridge, sub structure (subgrade). A comprehensive project work (in groups) of track design and analysis, and individual track modeling and simulation work will be an integrated part of the module delivery and assessment. |
