Construction equipment and machinery are the units of railway infrastructure construction. Understanding the behavior and performance of different track construction materials is the most fundamental indicator of track quality. The performance and serviceability of the track is basically depending on the usage of appropriate materials which are both quality and cost effective. This module will also explore different technologies of quality and performance improvement and treatment techniques of different materials components. The other crucial component of the module is understanding and effective usage of multiple equipment and machineries. In this section of the module both heavy earth moving, grading and compacting machines, bridge and track installing equipment, track laying machines, track maintenance machines and other destructive and non-destructive testing equipment will be discussed. A comprehensive project work (in groups) of track design and analysis, and individual track modeling and simulation work will be an integrated part of the module delivery and assessment. |
